What is 'Elroids'?

An experiment with a threeJS based cross between 'Asteroids' and 'Elite'.

Any comments gratefully recieved. There is a facebook discussion group here.

Controls

Based on 'BBC Elite' control set.

• '<'/'>' - Roll left/right
• 's'/'x' - Climb/dive
• 'z'/'c' - Yaw left/right
• 'space' - Thrust
• '?' - Brake ... (Relative to what???)
• 'm' - Fire 'Asteroids style' dumb missile. Hold down for auto-fire.
• 'p' - Pause/unpause game ... and start game/ship control terminal

Launch the game

May take a few (60) seconds to download on the first attempt.

May fail to start on the first attempt. If so re-load.

If you have played before new features may not work due to cached files. In this case clear your browser cache (history) and try again.

Launch standard game.

Launch standard game without sound.

Launch test game (Small universe with pre-defined rock pattern).

A 'checkered', 'wrap round' box is shown so can test to flying, shooting and seeing, through it. In standard mode this is invisible and much bigger.

• Classic games 'Asteroids' and 'BBC Elite' from the 80s.
• Sound effects, believed to be royalty free*, downloaded from Pixbay. (* If you think otherwise please contact me via facebook group and I will replace them.)

I discovered, after writing this, that more recent versions of Elite also support rock mining. I have not played those so don't know how closely my model matches with theirs.
